Description

The  Bently Nevada 330103‑00‑60‑05‑02‑05 is a variant of the 3300/3300 XL series eddy‐current (non‐contact) proximity probes / transducers manufactured by Bently Nevada .

These probes are used to measure the gap between a conductive target (typically a rotating shaft or a reference ring) and the probe tip, and convert that gap into a voltage output.

This allows monitoring of shaft displacement, static or dynamic (vibration) behavior, axial position, or reference (Keyphasor) signals.

FAQ


Q1: What is the functional principle of this probe?
A: The probe is an eddy‐current sensor: when mounted facing a conductive target, the probe tip generates a small electromagnetic

field. The distance (gap) between the tip and the target changes the impedance and thus the output voltage.

Within its linear range, the output is directly proportional to gap change. This allows measurement

of both static position (gap offset) and dynamic vibration (gap oscillations).



Q2: What is the “linear range” and how do I know if the probe is suitable for my shaft size/gap?
A: The linear range is the operating distance over which the output reliably varies proportionally to the gap.

For the 3300 XL 8 mm system, a typical linear range is ~60 mils (≈1.5 mm) for the NSv version. 

 You must ensure your probe mounting and target gap fall within this range (and typically near

the middle of the range for best dynamic sensitivity). If gap is too large or target is

 too small, measurement may be less accurate or saturated.



Q3: Can I mix this probe with other brands or non‐Bently drivers or cables?
A: While technically possible, it’s strongly recommended to use the full system compatibility:

probe + extension cable + driver from the same series to ensure proper calibration, linearity, and

 compliance with standards. The datasheet emphasises that the system is calibrated as a

complete unit and back‐compatible within the 3300/3300 XL series.  If you

 mix components, you may introduce error, degrade

performance, or void certification.
